Hector Ruiz

Hector De J. Ruiz, Ph.D serves as an Executive Officer of DNAprint Genomics, Inc. Dr. Ruiz served as the Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. from April 25, 2002 to July 17, 2008 and President from January 2000 to January 2006 and its Chief Operating Officer since January 2000. Dr. Ruiz served as a Senior Vice President of Motorola Inc. from 1991 to 1995 and General Manager of its paging and messaging businesses and also served as an Executive Vice President and General Manager of those businesses since 1996. Before joining Motorola, Dr. Ruiz worked at Texas Instruments Inc. from 1972 to 1977. He serves as the Chairman of Globalfoundries, Inc. He served as an Executive Chairman of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. from April 2004 to March 2009. He served as the Chairman and Director of Spansion Inc. from November 2005 to September 20, 2007. He serves as a Vice Chairman of Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). He serves as a Director of The International Engineering Consortium and Globalfoundries, Inc. He has been a Member of the Board of Managers of Spansion LLC (formerly, FASL LLC), a subsidiary of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. since July 2003. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Rice University. He has been a Trustee of The RAND Corporation since June 2009. He served as Director of Eastman Kodak Co. from January 2001 to May 13, 2009. He served as an Executive Director of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. from 2000 to March 2009. Dr. Ruiz serves on the President's Council of Advisors for Science and Technology (PCAST). Dr. Ruiz is actively committed to education and serves on the Foundation Advisory Council for the College of Engineering at the University of Texas. Dr. Ruiz was appointed to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in 1999. Dr. Ruiz earned a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin before earning his Doctorate in Electronics from Rice University in 1973.
