With almost 20 years of experience in non-profit advocacy and political campaign leadership, Doug Forand brings a wealth of knowledge to those in need of strategic advocacy. Before forming Red Horse, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of the DSCC under Senate Minority Leaders David Paterson and Malcolm Smith. In 2002, he managed Alan Hevesi's winning Comptroller campaign and was Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for Comptroller Hevesi following his election. In his work as an organizer for the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG); National Field Director for the Citizens Trade Campaign (a business and labor coalition that opposed the creation of the World Trade Organization); and as an organizer for the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law and The Arc of the United States, Forand has advocated for and built issue campaigns on behalf of working people, people with disabilities, and the environment.
