Liz Lopez has joined the law firm of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP (DWT) as an associate in the Washington, D.C. office. Lopez joins the firm’s well-known corporate diversity counseling practice headed by Weldon Latham. At DWT, Lopez will advise Fortune 500 companies on a variety of corporate diversity matters, including assessing legal vulnerabilities to prevent threats of discrimination lawsuits; assisting companies to establish a crisis management response due to pending litigation; and effectively developing and implementing diversity enhancement plans. Prior to joining DWT, Lopez served as counsel to the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, and prior to that was a Middlesex County Assistant District Attorney in Cambridge, Mass. In January 2006, Lopez was elected to the Executive Board for the Hispanic Bar Association of Washington, D.C. A member of the American Bar Association, last year she was selected by the ABA as a Diversity Fellow Scholar (2005 to 2006). Lopez is licensed to practice in the District of Columbia as well as the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and received her J.D from Boston College Law School.
