Bruce Rauner was sworn in as the 42nd governor of Illinois on January 12, 2015. His term ended January 14, 2019. Rauner was born and raised in Illinois. He graduated from Dartmouth College and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. Returning to Illinois in 1981, Rauner began working at the private equity firm Golder, Thoma, Cressey (later GTCR), where he worked for more than 30 years and served as chairman. Rauner is married to Diana Mendley Rauner and is the father of six children – two boys and four girls.
