Mr. George L. Engelke, Jr. has been the Chief Executive Officer of Astoria Financial Corp. since 1993. Mr. Engelke serves as Chief Executive Officer of Astoria Federal Savings and Loan Association. He served as President of Astoria Financial Corporation from 1993 to August 2007. He served as Executive Vice President and Treasurer of Astoria Federal Savings and Loan Association since 1974, Chief Operating Officer since 1986 and President and Chief Executive Officer since 1989. He joined Astoria Federal Savings and Loan Association, in 1971 as Vice President and Treasurer. Mr. Engelke has been Chairman of the Board of Astoria Financial Corp. and Astoria Federal Savings and Loan Association since April 1997. He serves as Chairman of the Community Preservation Corporation. He served as Chairman of Community Bankers Association of New York State. He served as Chairman of Federal Home Loan Bank of New York since January 2005 and then as its Vice Chairman. Mr. Engelke has been Director of Astoria Financial Corporation and its wholly owned subsidiary Astoria Federal Savings and Loan Association since 1993 and 1983 respectively. He serves as a Director of the Community Preservation Corporation and as a Director of the Advisory Board of Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City, Inc. Mr. Engelke serves as a member of the Thrift Institutions Advisory Panel to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Mr. Engelke served as a Director of Federal Home Loan Bank of New York since 1999. He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Long Island University. He serves as Director of the Community Bankers Association of New York State. He serves as member of the Government Affairs Council and served as Director of America�s Community Bankers. Mr. Engelke served as a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
