The brewing scandal between members of Congress – including Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Kan. – and the lobbying firm PMA Group seems to have caught the attention of two Congressional ethics offices.
According to the Washington Post, Tiahrt is one of seven members of the House appropriations committee in charge of defense spending under investigation for possibly brokering unethical deals with PMA and its clients.
...According to that same report, Tiahrt set aside more than $2 million in earmarks for defense clients of PMA while receiving $28,700 from its clients during the time periods mentioned above.
PMA shut down earlier this year after the FBI raided its building for evidence of criminal activity. Spinoff companies from PMA and former clients still have received earmark money and donated to Congressional candidates.
