The Manhattan Construction Company founded by Laurence H. Rooney in Oklahoma in 1896 grew to be one of the most prolific privately-held construction companies in the nation. It owns or controls numerous affiliates such as with affiliates 'Cantera Concrete Co.', 'Manhattan Road & Bridge', 'Manhattan Pipeline', 'Manhattan International', 'Spectrum', operated under the 'Manhattan Construction Group'. Tracking the specific ownership and controls structure of all these privately owned companies is difficult and beyond the scope of LittleSis, yet bundling all these construction interests of the Rooney family under a single entity seemed appropriate to track, if only loosely, the assets controlled by its members such as L Francis Rooney III, former US Ambassador to the Holy See and US Representative in Congress.
