Software heiress Megan Ellison has made a big name for herself in Hollywood as a prolific producer of artsy, critically acclaimed independent films. She is best known for producing the films Zero Dark Thirty, Her, and American Hustle. It didn’t hurt, of course, that her bazillionaire father, Larry Ellison, gave her $200 million for her 25th birthday, “with similar sums to come.” Four of the films she’s shepherded to the silver screen through her production company Annapurna Pictures have earned Oscar nominations in the prestigious Best Motion Picture of the Year category, and in 2014, when she was just 28, she was named to Time magazine’s annual list of 100 most influential people in the world. Annapurna and Ellison, who went on a “mysterious self-imposed hiatus in Hawaii” from late 2019 to early 2021, has continued to finance and/or produce a slew of film and television fare. Ellison also has a well-known penchant for buying and selling high-end real estate in some of L.A.’s most exclusive neighborhoods and zip codes.
