Geoff Verhoff advises clients on a wide range of legislative and regulatory matters at both the federal and state levels. Mr. Verhoff also advises foreign sovereigns on a wide range of public policy issues. For more than a decade, he has specialized in developing, implementing and managing targeted strategies to further client interests. He has a proven track record of successfully managing coalitions and large projects focused on advocacy, strategic communications and grassroots development/outreach. Mr. Verhoff also maintains an active role in Republican politics at the national level. He has been extensively involved in the past four presidential campaigns, as well as numerous House, Senate and third-party efforts on behalf of Republicans. Prior to joining Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, Mr. Verhoff spent time on both the policy and political sides of Capitol Hill. He first served as an aide to Sen. William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. Following that, he was an instrumental member of the Republican National Committee’s finance team from 2001-2005, concluding with President George W. Bush’s successful reelection campaign. Representative Matters successfully managing a project that resulted in the passage of a “doc fix” after 17 “patches” securing funding for a federal research initiative focused on saving a key domestic agricultural commodity managing a coalition on patent reform assisting with tribal tax issues culminating in the successful passage of the only original tax bill passed by Congress in 2014 representing foreign sovereigns on international trade, tax and development matters raising tens of millions of dollars for Republican candidates and causes.
