Anthony Costello, the Rochester, New York developer behind massive local projects including CityGate and the Reserve on the Erie Canal, has died, his company officials said Monday. Mr. Costello was the founder, chairman and CEO of the Costello Group and CEO of Anthony J. Costello & Son Development LLC. Anthony J. Costello & Son Development started in 1982 with three employees, including Mr. Costello and his son, Brett Costello, who is CEO of Anthony J. Costello & Son Development Property Management. Brett Costello also oversees operations of USAirports, which provides fueling, de-icing, aircraft maintenance and general fixed-base operator services at the Greater Rochester International Airport. Anthony J. Costello & Son Development ranked sixth on the most recent Rochester Business Journal list of real estate developers. The firm manages more than 2 million square feet of commercial space. Mr. Costello is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, Brett; daughters, Lynette, Alicia and Andrea; and 12 grandchildren.
