Kathy Fields teamed up with fellow dermatologist Katie Rodan to create acne treatment Proactiv Solution. The due also launched skin-care company Rodan + Fields. Since buying their eponymous firm back from Estée Lauder in 2007, the pair took the brand out of department stores and into direct selling. The move paid off: Revenue hit $627 million in 2015, up 90% from the previous year, with more than 150,000 independent consultants peddling products. After expanding into Canada in early 2015, the pair is now planning further international growth, starting with Australia in 2017. In April, Fields and Rodan sold their royalties to Proactiv to a joint venture between Guthy-Renker and Nestle, which markets the product. Fields is also an assistant dermatology professor at the University of California, San Francisco, and has a private practice in San Francisco. She met Rodan while they were dermatology residents at Stanford University. Bachelor of Arts / Science, University of Florida; Medical Doctor, University of Miami
