Joseph Edwin Canon, J.D., has been an Executive Vice President and Executive Director of Dodge Jones Foundation since 1982. Prior to 1982, Mr. Canon served as an Executive Vice President of First Financial Bank of Abilene. From 1974 to 1976, he served as the Vice President and Trust Officer with the First National Bank of Abilene. He has also been involved during this time as an executive officer and director of several private companies and partnerships with emphasis on energy, financial and other alternative investments. He has been an Independent Director of Main Street Capital Corporation since July 2007. Mr. Canon also serves on the Board of Directors for several bank and trust/asset management subsidiaries of First Financial Bankshares, Inc. He has also been the Executive Vice President and Executive Director and a member of the Board of Directors, of Kickapoo Springs Foundation and The Legett Foundation. He served as a Director of First Financial Bankshares Inc. and First Financial Bank of Abilene from 1996 to April 22, 2014. He has also served on the Board of Directors of various other organizations including the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau, Abilene Chamber of Commerce, Conference of Southwest Foundations, City of Abilene Tax Increment District, West Central Texas Municipal Water District and the John G. and Marie Stella Kenedy Memorial Foundation. Mr. Canon is a graduate of Texas Tech University and The University of Texas School of Law.
