Scott Macconomy

Scott MacConomy has helped broker history. Been involved in the passage of landmark legislation. And protected our country in a time of war. And he’s done it all just four blocks from where he was born in Washington, D.C. In the interim, Scott went off to school. He spent the first 3-1/2 years at Davidson College. Then he pulled up stakes and turned west, working his way through the University of Colorado as a bartender and bouncer--a tough job for a 160-pound guy. But Scott was smart, calm, and persuasive--qualities that served him well then, and still do. Apparently Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (NY) thought those traits--plus a degree in cognitive psychology--would also work well in Washington, and hired Scott after graduation. History proved Senator Moynihan right. Scott went on to work for the Senator for 18 years. He started in the mailroom, was quickly promoted to Special Legislative Assistant for Economic Development, and ultimately served as Moynihan’s Legislative Director prior to the Senator’s retirement in 2001. While on Moynihan’s staff, he worked on massive initiatives like the Penn Station Redevelopment Project and funding to build the Rose Center for Planetary Science at the American Museum of Natural History. After that, Scott was hired as a vice president by Cassidy & Associates, where he represented colleges, hospitals, and other nonprofit organizations on Capitol Hill. In 2005 he joined the staff of Senator Mark Pryor (AR). There, he oversaw legislation on the Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees, which have transformed the ways in which we protect this country. While assisting Senator Pryor, Scott learned about Russ Reid. He liked what he heard, and made his new home with us. Now he helps hospitals heal and colleges educate. He is also proud to help secure funding for Infant-See, which provides free eye exams to 438,000 inner-city children.
