Mr. Jamal co-founded ePlanet in mid-1999 along with the leading Silicon-Valley venture capital firm, Draper Fisher Jurvetson (www.dfj.com), to focus on global venture capital opportunities. ePlanet closed a US$ 650 million venture capital fund in 2000, making it one of the largest global technology funds. In the U.S., Europe, and Asia, ePlanet's focus is on seed to late stage investments. Under Mr. Jamal, ePlanet has built an office presence in Silicon Valley, London, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. Mr. Jamal has led ePlanet's investments in numerous companies and sits on several boards, including IXI Mobile, IntraPace, Baidu, and Zonare, among others. Previously, Mr. Jamal has worked as a Managing Director for Peregrine Investments, the Hong Kong based Asia-Pacific investment bank, and as Head of Fixed Income and Derivatives Trading for the Chase Manhattan Bank in London. Mr. Jamal graduated with a B.Sc. (Honors) in Economics & Finance from the London School of Economics, and is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales having qualified with Arthur Andersen Co., London.
