Karim Alibhai has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. As founder and principal of Gencom Group, Mr. Alibhai oversees all investment activities for the company he founded in 1987, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, re-positioning and financing. In 1997, Gencom led a $500 million, three-way merger and subsequent sale that resulted in the creation of Wyndham International. Currently, Mr. Alibhai oversees the company’s focus on the development and acquisition of luxury mixed-use hotels, including The Ritz-Carlton and Hyatt properties, with ancillary residential components in key resort and urban markets. Gencom Group is currently involved in seven The Ritz-Carlton projects in various stages of development, including the first of its kind, Molasses Reef, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, in the Turks and Caicos. Mr. Alibhai holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Rice University. He has served on the boards for Wyndham International and Interstate Hotels. He lives in Key Biscayne, Florida, with his wife, daughter and son. Gencom Group is headquartered in Miami with representative offices in Houston, U.S. West Coast and London.
