Fernando Espuelas is the host and managing editor of Café Espuelas – the daily 3-6pm talkshow broadcast live on Univision radio – as well as a nationally recognized media entrepreneur. He has founded multiple media firms, including StarMedia, the first venture-capital backed Latin Internet company and also the first IPO in the Latin Internet industry. His many accolades include being named one of the “Leaders of the Millennium” by Time and CNN in 2000, a World Economic Forum “Global Leader of Tomorrow,” and a 2007 Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute. He has been a tireless and outspoken advocate for education reform in Los Angeles, frequently using his radio show to educate tens of thousands of Angelinos about their rights to join together and demand change in public education. Prior to founding StarMedia Network, Fernando was the Managing Director of Marketing Communications for AT&T Latin America and the Caribbean. He held various senior positions at Ogilvy & Mather in both the United States and Latin America, and at advertising agencies Lowe & Partners and Young & Rubicams’ Wunderman Worldwide. He is also the author of the book Life in Action. Fernando received a B.A. in History with distinction from Connecticut College. He is a member of the 2007 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.
