Laura Palmer Noone

Laura Palmer Noone is provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Ashford University in San Diego, Calif. She has more than 30 years’ experience in for-profit higher education, including serving as the chief academic officer and president of the University of Phoenix, which named her president emerita in 2006.
She also served as president and CEO of Saras Education Inc., where she provided professional management and consultation to institutions of higher education, including enrollment and retention support, technology and distance learning capacity. Noone also served as president and CEO of Potomac College in Washington D.C., where she gained approval for the college’s first master’s degree.
She has served on the U.S. Department of Education’s National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI), on the board of directors for the American Council on Education (ACE), and on the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education. She also has been a faculty member of Harvard’s Graduate School of Education for the Management of Lifelong Education.
Noone holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Dubuque, a master’s in business administration and a doctor of law degree from the University of Iowa, and a doctorate in higher education from the Union Institute and University.
She and her husband, Stephen Noone, live in Tempe, Ariz., and have two children, Katerina and Nicholas. |
