" Within a matrix corporate structure, reporting through the Vice President Health, Safety and Environment of Rio Tinto Copper and Diamonds to define, develop and lead the overall strategy and vision for the management of environmental regulatory requirements, including large-scale strategic permitting and approvals for the Rio Tinto Copper and Diamonds portfolio.
• Monitor, track and lead the technical understanding and company-wide communication of new and emerging environmental regulations and their impacts on the business.
• Working closely with technical and operations teams across the Copper and Diamonds group, develop and define comprehensive environmental and technical risk management strategies and project management tools and systems to maintain compliance and business continuity in a fast-paced and ever changing complex regulatory environment.
• Accountability for development and maintenance of strong positive relationships with multiple federal, state and county regulatory agencies with oversight of the mining industry to ensure compliance and business risk management.
• Represent Copper and Diamonds projects and operations on industry trade groups, including American Exploration and Mining Association.
• Lead all strategic federal and state permits, approvals, leases and right of ways in support of timely implementation of expansions and new development projects with a diverse team of environmental, technical and legal professionals and consultants." |
