Milton was Vice Chairman of the Goldman Sachs Strategy and Corporate Development Group and Global Head of the Financial Sponsors Coverage Group. He is responsible for some of the firm’s most important relationships with private equity firms, hedge funds and financial institutions. Milton was named partner in 1996. Previously, Milton was Vice Chairman of Goldman Sachs Financial Institutions, which focused on raid defense mergers and acquisitions and divestitures of commercial banks, finance companies, investment companies and thrift institutions. In addition, he founded the firm’s strategic advisory efforts in the asset management industry. In 1999, he became head of Corporate Development and was made a member of the firm’s Strategy Committee. In 2001, he assumed additional responsibility as head of Firmwide Strategy. Milton earned a BS from California State University, Northridge, in 1978 and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1980.
