Lana Z. Moresky, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, was appointed to the Ohio Board of Regents in October 2008. She spent nearly 15 years serving Ohioans in county government as director of community services, and also served as vice president of the Heights Fund Inc., and acting director of the Women’s Law Fund, a non-profit law firm founded to pursue litigation that set national precedent in gender law. A former educator, Regent Moresky is best known for her work in opening doors for women and girls in a wide range of fields including academia, the judiciary, media, athletics, business, politics, policing, firefighting and the building trades. Regent Moresky was a key advocate for the passage of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Later she drafted formal comments that helped create the framework for the guidelines in 1975. In addition, she was named to the National Career Education Advisory Committee by the United States Department of Education, established to shape school curriculum to foster career goals. Most recently Regent Moresky served on the Board of Directors for Lake Erie College in Painesville. Regent Moresky currently serves as Board Vice-Chair, chairs the Centers of Excellence Task Force and serves on the Enterprise University Task Force.
