His next partner, Robert S. Gordon, said Johnson had invested $500,000 in 1975 when banks would not touch cable and Gordon desperately needed the money. Gordon had won the cable franchises in eight towns in Broward County, but he did not have the capital to start laying cable. Between 1977 and 1981, Johnson also personally loaned Gordon and his wife $350,000, according to deeds. Johnson bought Gordon out of the cable business, but unlike with Spielvogel, he had never been friends with Gordon. |
