Leadership Professor Aziz Sheikh OBE leads the Usher Institute. Structure The Usher Institute sits within the Edinburgh Medical School. It has 4 core research centres, hosts the Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit, and is a delivery hub within the Data-Driven Innovation Programme of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal. The Usher Institute was home to the first Chair of Public Health in the United Kingdom in 1898.
